Junior Premier League Presents
JPL England
A STATEMENT FROM THE JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE
It is with tremendous sadness that the Junior Premier League has learned of the tragic passing of Amelia Aplin. Amelia was not only a hugely valued player within the JPL WARRIORS community, but an enormously talented goalkeeper who proudly represented the league as part of the JPL ALL STARS programme. To lose a young player with such promise at just 15 years old is a tragedy that is felt deeply across our football community.
Amelia represented everything we hope to see in a young footballer: resilience, passion, and a strong team spirit. As a goalkeeper she played with courage and determination, and was a constant source of encouragement to her teammates. Her presence on the pitch and within the ALL STARS programme made a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of playing alongside her.
The thoughts and deepest condolences of everyone in the JPL are with Amelia’s parents, her family, and her friends during this incredibly difficult time. The JPL also extends its support to her teammates and coaches at Oxford United, as well as the players and staff at Fulham FC who were present. We respectfully ask that the privacy of Amelia’s family is honoured as they grieve.
“Amelia wasn’t just a goalkeeper; she was a leader and a bright light in our ALL STARS program,” said Martin Brock, chief executive of the JPL. “Her loss leaves a void in the JPL that words cannot adequately fill. Our thoughts are with her family, her friends and her teammates at this unspeakably difficult time. Rest in peace, Amelia.”
The Junior Premier League will find an appropriate way to honour Amelia’s memory in the days ahead.
