Royal Jack earns academy place
The Junior Premier League was delighted to hear that former Henley Lions striker, and STATSports Cup winner, Jack Timberlake has been offered a place at Reading FC’s Academy.
Jack had been playing in the JPL for a number of seasons, playing as a forward for Henley Lions. Last year he was part of the U15 squad that reached the 2021 STATSports Cup Final at Gloucester City. He played a big part in the final, scoring from the penalty spot in a thrilling encounter with Needham Market. Henley Lions were the eventual winners but had to go through a penalty shootout, with their goalkeeper scoring the final penalty to secure the victory.

Following the end of the 2020/21 season Jack moved into the U18 and senior setup at Flackwell Heath. During his time with the Heathens he was instrumental in another cup final, scoring in a 2-0 victory over North Greenford United to bring home the U18 Challenge Cup.
After Jack put pen to paper with Reading he took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

Richard Camden from Henley Lions commented: “Jack since joining at u12 has averaged 40 + goals per season, but this is not all what he is about. He was a changing room leader at a young age, already helping in community coaching with smaller ones who idolise him. Numerous rejections at certain clubs only made him hungrier. He was also our first player to play senior football at the age of 16 last season. Jack is an incredible lad and an incredible talent who just wants to learn, work hard and reach the highest levels he can.”
Everyone at the JPL would like to congratulate Jack, and we look forward to following his progress with Reading FC!
