The Junior Premier League is to expand into the United States with a brand-new soccer championship for Utah – the JPL USA.
The JPL is England’s only National league for youth players from Under-8 to Under-18, with over 25,000 young people registered.
It is the largest youth soccer organisation in the UK, with a focus on player development, innovation and ensuring every player has a premier experience.
The JPL stages several high-level tournaments in the UK every year and 1 in 11 players progress into an English Professional academy. Many more progress into high-level non-professional football and college football.
The expansion into Utah will see clubs taking part on an invitation-only basis, starting with a launch in Spring 2022.
Daren Woolstenhulme, who has been appointed CEO of The Junior Premier League USA, said: “I am delighted that the Junior Premier League has chosen Utah for its first expansion into the United States.
“The JPL is widely regarded as a very high level of youth soccer in the United Kingdom and we want to give youngsters in the USA similar opportunities.
“We already have a fantastic soccer set-up here in Utah and we want to work with existing clubs to continue that fine tradition of player development.
“The best clubs will be invited to join us and mirror the high standards already set by the Junior Premier League in the UK.”
