AFC Diamonds U16's v Kettering Development U16'3
We welcomde Kettering's developemt team to the MAA on the bright sunny morning. The teams acknowledged a minutes silence in honor of the tragic helicopter crash at Leicester City last week.
The game started well for the away side, they seemed to settle with the conditions better and had some good pressure during that time. It wasn't long though before the home team perked up and sparked into life. The goals in the 1st 20 minutes came from Tom Simmons and Will Jones, both good finishes.
The 2nd session started where the first had left off, Charlie Pearson getting his first of the game. Charlie added to his tally 5 minutes later and then completed his hat-trick just on the stroke of half time. 5-0 to the home team.
The second half saw Kettering strike back in the first minute, with a great goal from Harvey - the finish was a real worldie. This seemed to push Diamonds on though and the home team recovered well, with Charlie scoring his 4th and 5th goals.
The final session saw Charlie score his 6th and 7th goals of the game, with William Jones getting his 2nd, 3rd and 4th of the game too. the scoring was finished off with 2 good finishes, 1 from Scott Simms and the last goal of the game went to Thomas Binder. The scoreline ended 14-1 to AFC Diamonds U16's. The home team were certainly clinical today but this didn't detract from the effort that the away team put in. They ketp trying to the end so fair play to them.
