Worcester City v Birmingham City in the Community U15

Worcester City v Birmingham City in the Community U15

Worcester welcomed Birmingham to Perdiswell on a very breezy day that can often make playing football tricky.

1st quarter – WCFC started well and nearly scored in the first few minutes as Fish slipped the ball through to Archie who hit it early and just wide. First goal of the game came when Archie returned the favour and played in Fish who beat the last defender before dribbling around the keeper to make it 1-0! Birmingham had a good spell of possession latter part of the quarter, but were unable to trouble a resolute backline who stopped Birmingham from creating any real goal scoring opportunities.

2nd quarter - Good start from Birmingham this quarter who pinned WCFC into their half with a number of good attacks down the wings, however on the counter Joe played a long ball behind the defenders with Fish beating his man and intelligently lobbing the goalie to make it 2-0! Soon after more pressure resulted in a corner to WCFC which Joe played into the penalty spot where Luke flicked it on for Dexter to pounce making it 3-0!

3rd quarter – With WCFC gaining control of the game in midfield they started to enjoy the majority of possession and looked a constant threat especially on the wings. Charlie and Archie combined well down the left to release Archie who powered forward and unleashed an unstoppable effort in the bottom corner 4-0! Soon after Tyler played in Archie again and with the defender just missing the interception, he was in on goal. This time he went for an even more spectacular effort into the roof of the net 5-0!

With nothing to lose Birmingham never gave up and pushed forward gaining a free kick 40 yrds out which was well struck and forced an impressive save from Dan in the WCFC goals. It was from this save that WCFC scored a great team goal when Dan quickly released the ball to Tyler who played a one two with Toby in the centre circle before finding Alex on the edge of the area, he turned his defender and on the half-volley smashed the ball into the top corner 6-0!

4th quarter – The final quarter was an end to end affair as Birmingham searched for a consolation goal, however the WCFC defence of Dexter, Harry, Luke, Toby & Charlie worked hard to maintain a clear sheet. The final goal of the game after Joe brought a long ball down in the middle of the pitch and played in Corbin who with a cheeky rabona cross found Alex, he calmly controlled it with his chested and found the time to slot the ball into side netting 7-0!

Parents praise will go to the WCFC goal scorers, yet it was an equally impressive performance from the midfield & defence who frustrated Birmingham today by pressing them at every opportunity and not allowing them to play.

We wish Birmingham all the best for the remainder of the season.
