Match Report

JPL Fixture

A depleated U15 Kettering team welcomed a very good WMA Barnsley side to the glebe today.

The games over the past season have been great battles and today the same was expected.

The game started at a good temp with Kettering dominating the ball well, but Barnsley were very effective in attack with there central striker causing issues. The fist opportunity cam to Kettering but some great defending allowd Barnsley to kepp a clean sheet.

The game flowed well and with 5 minutes to the end of the first 20 the Kettering GK was beaten with the ball going under his body. The second goal came almost immediately with a ball over the top of a defence which were caught out and 0 - 2 was score at the break.

Kettering came out of the blocks working realy hard in the second 20 and this gave them a goal from Owen Montgomery with a great strike into the roof of the net. The game was turning in Ketterings favour but then some poor defending alowd Barnsley in to score again. Alfie Harcombe responded with another great effort which took the score to 2 - 4.

Kettering had to make positional changes after the first 40 minutes with Harry West coming off who is suffering with Os-Good schlatters, Kettering with only 12 payers today due to so many injuries (11) re-shaped the squad. The changes hand an impact on the defensive line and with the pace of Barnsley on the attack 2 more goals were conceeded - 2 - 6

The last 20 the coaches challenged the lads to try and keep a clean sheet and if possible nick a goal - The lads rallied never gave up and made it happen, the final gol of the game was a great passage of player, Dylan Simpson slide tackled to win the ball deep in the Kettering half, he drove 5 yards then passed out to the left side of the field to the electric Elliott Wilson, Elliot attacked the fall back and drove into the box, he hit the goal line cut back inside and delivered a great cross for Keegan Halsey to head home which was the goal of the game. he challenge was completed.

Well done to the opposition today, a great game was played by both teams, coaching staff were all impeckable in behaviour.

We wish WMA Barnsley a good journey home and look forward to the next fixture against them
