Match Report

Evesham United U15's 'v' Hereford FC U15's

Evesham United U15’s welcomed Hereford FC U15’s to the Jubilee Stadium on a beautiful autumnal morning in the U15’s West North Division fixture.

Both teams took time to settle in the 1st quarter, with chances being few and far between as the quarter ended 0 – 0.

However, it was the visitors who started the 2nd quarter the better and took the lead in the 27th minute with a smart turn in the box and sliding the ball past the keeper. Evesham responded immediately and an inch perfect, defence splitting past from Jack Tustin found Reagan Martin one on one with the keeper before rounding him and slotting the ball into the empty net. It was Hereford who then regained the lead 1 minute later when Evesham failed to take command in their own box and saw the ball wrong foot keeper Harvey Lloyd.

The 3rd quarter was another tight affair and it took until the 54th minute for Evesham to equalise when Ben MacCallum-Banks managed to toe poke in a corner from Reagan Martin. Ben then scored his 2nd of the game 2 minutes later when home keeper Lloyd handled superbly from a Hereford Corner before instantly releasing Aleem Khan who nodded the ball into the path of Banks who lobbed the ball over the opposition keeper. The quarter drew to a close and Hereford managed to equalise right at the death as Evesham switched off expecting the flag to be raised for offside.

Again, the 4th quarter was a tight nervous affair as both teams looked to secure the 3 points, but it was the home team who struck the winner in the 77th minute when right back Ben Wilkes found himself in the Hereford box and picked out Aleem Khan who saw his side-footed effort agonisingly trickle into the inside of the net. Evesham managed to weather the storm in the final few minutes as Hereford went in search of the equaliser.

A tight, honest and competitive game today which neither team really deserved to lose.

Evesham look forward to travelling to Hereford in the return fixture in 2019.
