Match Report

Oxford City v Galaxy

Very good game today against very good opponents.  Galaxy took control of the first quarter with some good possesion play combined with a fierce determination to win the ball back. Chances on goal were limited for both sides but Galaxy made the most of one of the few clear goal-scoring opportunties to finish well and go a goal up (Q1 0-1).  The second quarter saw Oxford City come back into the game a bit but were going to have to clearly up their game further to trouble the Galaxy defence and goal-keeper.  Both teams largely cancelled each other out this quarter (Q2 0-1).  The third quarter was again a stalemate as both teams fought to get control of the ball and look to attack with some good passing moves (Q3 0-1).  The final quarter became a lot more open as players started to tire after putting a lot into the first 60 minutes. Galaxy had a very good chance to get a second goal but some good last ditch defending kept Oxford City in the game.  Oxford City also had chances to equalise as the game became more open.  As the game entered the final 10 minutes Oxford City started to press Galaxy back into their half in the search for an equaliser.  The pressure finally paid off when a cross from the left was headed in. The momentum was now with Oxford City and they captilised on this with a further two goals in the remaining minutes of the game (Q4 3-1). Oxford City had a few more substitutes to call on today and this may have been a key factor today in a game that was keenly contested throughout.  Best of luck to Galaxy for the rest of the season.
