Match Report

Close Game Ends with Defeat for City

Gloucester City hosted Weston Super Mare in this league fixture in blustery conditions and with only one substitute for the hosts.

The first quarter was a very even 20 minutes with both sides trying to get the ball down and play football. It was Weston that started the brightest, but City grew into the quarter and had a lot of possesion in the opposition half.

The second quarter was Citys best spell as they put together some free flowing football and caused Weston some trouble. Charlie Wilkes and Sam Viner came close for the home side. weston had their chances as well, but both the City full backs were on good form and managed to snub most attacks out.

The third quarter was Westons best quarter by far and as it progressed they were able to press higher up the pitch. Gloucesters lack of subs were beginning to show as tired legs were visible around the pitch. In the 50th minute Weston scored with a sublime finish.

The fourth quarter was farely even and as Gloucester searched for an equaliser the game became more open. At the final whistle it was Weston that were triumphant although Gloucester could consider themselves quite unlucky not to get anything out of the game.

This was a well fought game between two sides who played some great football and were a real credit to the JPL.
