YTCST FC 1 - 5 North Somerset RTC
Suprising good conditions for this mornings game as Yeovil welcomed North Somerset to Gassons Lane. With the heavy rain the pitch was in good shape for 2 good passing teams.
The first quarter was mainly played in the midfield third as both teams looked to assert an early dominance. NS looked good with some neat, quick passing while Yeovil tried to remain compact and restrict NS to the wide areas. The first goal of the game came when Yeovil lost the ball just inside their half, after a quick combination the ball was fired past the goalkeeper to end the first quarter 0-0.
Yeovil were finding it difficult to play against a strong wind blowing from one end to the other. With their passing getting interupted by a physical NS team. This quater had much of the game again in the middle third with the exeption of a great effort rattling the bar from an NS player.
As the teams changed ends, it was NS turn to play into the win, and they started the half quickly. Looking to break in numbers as their back three looked to break up and Yeovil attacks and play into the final third. Yeovil soon settled and had a solid 10 minutes, penning NS into their own half and playing good, quick football.
NS always looked dangerous with their attacking line. And a couple of individual errors gave them a healthy 3-0 lead going into the last quarter.
Yeovil changed their tactics in the final 20 to try and work off of a physical striker and CAM partnership and grabbed themselves a goal. This seemed to sharpen NS as they added 2 goals in quick succession to round off a 5-1 win.
Yeovil look forward to the return fixture and wish NS the best in their future games.
