Paulton vs Cirencester
Paulton welcomed Cirencester Town to Norton Hill School for an early kick off.
The home side started the game slowly and were soon punished by the visitors after the Cirencester Striker did very well to beat the Paulton CB inside in the box before firing the ball into the net. The lead was doubled 5 minutes later, when the Paulton keeper was caught outside the box and the oncoming striker got to the ball first and finished well, 2-0 at the break.
The 2nd quarter started and was very similar to the first with Cirencester getting another early goal, this time from a corner which was delivered to the backpost and somehow found it’s way into the Paulton net. However, this time Paulton responded and started to create a few chances, one of which resulted in a corner which was headed into the goal by George Wainwright to make it 3-1.
After the halftime break, Paulton came out re-motivated and started pressing high up the field, this lead to a few chances being created and George Wainwright was very unlucky to see his effort cleared off the goal line after rounding the keeper. Paulton finally found a breakthrough when George Stevens latched onto a loose ball in the area and chipped it over the keeper before slotting it into the net. 3-2.
With both teams looking for their first result of the season, the final quarter was very open as Paulton pushed high up the pitch to try and get an equaliser creating a number of good chances and Cirencester Counter Attacking well to create chances, however neither side could find the net and the game finished 3-2 to the visitors.
An excellent game of football with both sides showing some really good build up play and creating plenty of goal scoring opportunities.
