City entertained Total Pro Soccer (TPS) and were hoping to put in another good performance which as lifted their spirits over the few games and try to reverse the defeat earlier in the season.
The first quarter was a close affair as both sides tried to get the upper hand on the other. TPS put the City side under some good pressure with their quick passing and one, two play and with City trying a new formation created some good chances but found Ellies Passey in fine form in the City goal, who kept the scores level at the break.
Second quarter saw TPS continue where they finish in the 1st quarter and with City changing players, City couldn’t quite match them for effort. On one of City’s attacks and with too many players forward TPS broke and with so much room in midfield Owen Jones let fly from a good 20yds and saw it fly into the back of the net (take a bow son). It was soon two when Bailey Wicks latched on to a good through ball to slot it into the net. City held out to the whistle and a good team talk required.
City were hoping to put the 2nd Quarter behind them and get back to how the spirit was in the first quarter. Now kicking down the slight slope City attacked with new belief but had to be more solid at the back to ward off TPS counterattack. City now with this new found belief continued to press and started to create chances. It was from some pressure that led to City grabbing a goal back from a corner which Jaydon’s Esson latch onto the loose ball to fire home. TPS still continued to to cause the City defence problems and were still looking to play from the back and played out well. On one of these occasions Dylan Bhatti intercepted the ball on the halfway line and surged down the right wing, into the back and square it to Esson to tap in for the equaliser but for the save of the season by TPS keeper Coen Littlefield who came from nowhere to keep it out (what a save).
The final quarter was now going to be a battle of nerves from both teams. Could City grab an equaliser and possible win or could TPS hold out or grab a goal on the break to put tie out of reach. With the clock ticking it was TPS who were holding on to there lead and looking like it was going to be their day. With at the time was less than 10mins left, City made their final changes and it was one of these players that had a big part to play in the coming events. With time almost up it was James Berry’s through ball to Esson who slot home to what seemed like a well earned point and a fair result. As players asked all waited to see how much injury time there was and to all were amazed to hear how much, this was severe Fergie time! With time almost up, one last chance by City Passey big kick down field managed to find its way to Esson who return the compliment to Berry who fired the ball into the corner of the net an d que wild City celebrations.
This was a cracker of a game for the supporters and to be fair a draw would have been a fair result as both teams worked their socks off. In games you get a bit of luck and today was City’s and thank ‘Fergie time’.
