Taunton Town U14 Clarets V Torquay Utd
First Period. 0-0
Some good work, taunton worked hard to gain control of the match but Torquay stifled taunton in the final third of there attacks. A confident performance by taunton a goalkeeper using his feet to build the play out from the back gave a confidence to taunton.
Second period 4-2
A very quick start from taunton saw a break through the middle of the pitch in Torquay’s penalty area a pass was deflected to taunton who volleyed into Torquay’s goal.
Taunton gained confidence form this and soon broke down the left squaring the ball across the goal for Taunton to make it two.
Torquay quickly started to respond, forcing the play and putting pressure onto taunton resulting in a quick replay scoring from outside the area.
Taunton kept to their game plan and built play down the wings threading the ball through to their striker who calmly finished. Again Torquay came straight back with quick play into taunton’s penalty area latching onto a clearance and scoring. This quarter hadn’t finished yet and build up play from tauntons right back threading a ball down the wing created a chance to square the ball and the left winger putting the ball on the net.
Third period 2-1
A period where Torquay tested Taunton's defence, taunton built some good opportunities always testing the fullbacks. Resulting in several corners.
Taunton opened the pitch up breaking down the left and switching the play to the right which saw the right back put in a great cross to be headed home.
Torquay replied with vigor pressing taunton as they attached through the middle of the pitch and won a free kick, some distance from goal, from the free kick they shot high and scored.
Taunton kept playing through the wings and gained a corner using a short corner to get into the box, and with the ball bouncing around where awarded a penalty. Taunton scored from the penalty.
Forth period 0-0
The quarter was very energetic for the final quarter of the game which was fantastic to see. Taunton got a little carried away with swapping the box but Torquay defended very well.
Gold - number 7 - confident on the ball drove forward with purpose
Silver - number 2 - good touches defended well and dribbled well
Bronze - number 9 - good play spreading the play closing down the opposition
Gold - William Fevin - good play down the wings dribbling and taking players on
Silver - Adam Willis - great supporting runs, tactically aware
Bronze - Jake Poole - calm under pressure tactically confident
