Taunton U14’s Clarets V Weston Super Mare U14’s
The game started, as it was to go on with both teams battling to dominate possession. WSM started to skilfully thread balls through the middle and in behind the Taunton defence.
After a WSM break Taunton played the ball through the midfield and out to the wings creating a shoot that hit the post.
WSM started to get the ball to their number 7 that was playing just behind the loan striker, which he used well to create space to get on to the ball. However Taunton adapted well and showed a calm assurance at the back when reading the game and cutting out some of the passes, However WSM found a way through a few times but Taunton’s pace at the back managed to close down the attack with a great last man tackle. Taunton played the ball out from the back again building up the play and breaking down the wings again with a ball played in from left again with the striker again hitting the crossbar and the post.
With the change of ends Taunton started strong with the majority of possession. Keeping the ball well and again utilising the wings, with several breaks down Taunton’s left wing. Taunton finally broke down WSM with a break down the left played back into the midfield and threaded through to the on coming right winger who placed the ball through the keepers legs and into the goal.
WSM struck back with some quick balls forward the right winger looping a ball over the Taunton goal keeper, to make it 1-1. This was followed by another quick ball forward and taken well by the WSM player, making it 1-2 to WSM.
Taunton had a drive at the start of the 4th quarter to try and get back in the game, this resulted in some quick passing through the midfield and a lot of balls played trough the defence. WSM defended well with the Number 2 making some crucial challenges and winning the ball well in the air. Soon the constant pressure from Taunton resulted in some free kicks outside the penalty area. Taunton took advantage of these free kicks with Taunton’s centre back placing the ball over the WSM wall and into the net.
