Stoke RTC 3 - 11 River Academy
The game got off to a good start for Stoke when Marley Chambers headed in from a corner early on in the game. River Academy began to take control of the game though after that and went close to scoring on a number of occasions, hitting the woodwork twice. Stoke failed to react to their warnings and they eventually got the equaliser that they deserved just before the break after some tidy play in midfield.
The second quarter involved chances at either end, with both teams hitting the woodwork. However it was River Academy who went ahead after a mistake from a Stoke defender who let the ball go over his head from a throw in was finished neatly. 2-1 became 3-1 shortly after as River Academy began to take control of the game just before half time.
The second half was a real disappointment for Stoke, who dropped their heads and found themselves 6-1 down in the third quarter after allowing far too much space for their visitors in midfield. Harvey Pickering pulled one back for Stoke, making it 6-2, after an accurate through ball found its way to the Stoke striker. Stoke did lift their heads slightly and finished the quarter strongly.
However, Stoke lost their shape during the final quarter and River Academy added a number of goals to make it 11-2. Harvey Pickering did add a consolation goal for Stoke, making the final score Stoke RTC 3- 11 River Academy.
We would like to wish River Academy good luck for the rest of the season.
