TTFC vs RTC Wilts
Saturday morning saw Taunton host RTC Wiltshire in the cup. Both teams eager to start, showing lots of energy in the opening few minutes. The first attempt of the game going to Taunton who worked the ball well down the left wing, and Ben Southward narrowly missed wide. RTC Wilts were straight down the other end trying to create opportunities. The play then favoured Taunton as a great bit of play at the back saw Josh Morse feed a ball into the path of Evan Howse to finish well after just 4 minutes. 1-0 Taunton. RTC Wiltshire responded instantly scoring just minutes later with a very well delivered free kick that was headed in at the back post. 1-1 and all players, supporters and coaches knew this was going to be a very exciting game. Play was very much ‘end to end’, with both sides creating opportunities, but keepers and the back line’s doing very well throughout to keep the game level for a while. Nearing halfway through the half, Fin Koppa picked up the ball from a clearance, sensing the keeper off his line, finished first time to lob the goalkeeper. 2-1 Taunton.
The second half began very similarly to how the first half ended, with play being shared, Wilts probably having slightly more possession, and Taunton looking to counter. Some dominant midfield play from Wilts saw a few opportunities, but just missing that clinical finishing. One attack came very close, but was cleared just off the line to keep Taunton in the lead. Wiltshire, knowing the demands of the game, pushing to try and find an equaliser and committing a few more to the attack began to worry Taunton. But some good defending and good decision making from Joe in goal, was enough to keep Taunton in the lead.
A great end to end game with two evenly matched sides, that on another day, could have gone either way.
