League cup semi final Alvechurch u14s vs AFC Fylde u14s

Today we welcomed AFC Fylde to Ciodsall for the semi final of the league cup.

The weather wasnt the best for football as very strong winds were going to make it difficult for Alvechurch to play there normal, passing game.

Period 1

The game started with AFC Flyde on the front foot with vey hard and determined pressing from the front which rewarded  AFC Flyde the first goal of the game. The wind was becoming a major factor of the game and Alvechurch equalised with a long free kick from Ben Stokes flying high over the AFC Fylde keeper into the net. Peeiod 1 ended 1-1

Period 2

The game carried on in the same vane with AFC Fylde creating the better of the oppourtunities and desrevedly took the lead after a defensive mistake caused by the high press and was neatly taken by the AFC Fylde striker, This seemed to wake Alvechurch up and they started to string together some neat passages of play. Peroid 2 ended 1-2.

Period 3

Alvechurch started to dominate possession and deservedly scored throughb Kyri after a superbly delivered free kick from Ben McCone 2-2. Alvechuch were now on the front foot and creating lots of good oppourtinities but AFC Flde were very dangerous on the counter attack. AFC Flyde re took the lead after some ver aggressive pressing from the AFC Fylde forward line lead to a defensive mix up and The AFC Fylde striker nicked the ball and calmly passed the ball past the Akvechurch keeper into the net 2-3.

Peeiod 4

Alvechurch threw caution to the wind and changed there shape to try to get back into the game. Alvechurch were creating many chances in this period but found the AFC Flyde keeper in great form, but were also guly of squandering many chances. Even with Alvechurch playing the high majority of the period in the AFC Fylde half Fylde were extremely dangerous on the counter attack and were working the Alvechurch back 3 at every oppourtunity. The game ended 2-3

A very entertaining game unfortunaetley spoilt by the high winds. A shame someone had to lose but thats football.

We wish AFC Fylde players coaches and parents the very best of luck in the final.
