Evo welcomed Birmingham St George to Odd Down Sports Ground. The game was the sides first meeting since the u14s cup final at Lilleshall.
BSG started the stronger and a quick free kick down the left almost proved significant.
Evo with many key players still missing through injuries started to grow into the game and on 20 minutes with the intro of Halladey and Ross they became more threatening. Noad went close, before a teasing left wing cross from Maslen caused havoc in the six yard box, but the visitors cleared.
The game was tight and right on half time the visitors forced Ben O Hare into a stunning save. 0-0 HT
Evo started the 2nd half brightly, Noad forced a mistake and teed up Whitson who finished well.
Evo then pretty much kept their physical opponents at arms length, deploying a low block and breaking fast. Halladey restricted by injury, went close twice in a 10 min cameo.
With the game looking likely to stay at 1-0, a good cross forced some hesitation and the BSG player finished well, with the visitors only shot on target of the half.
With the last kick, the visiting GK pulled off a fine low save to his left to ensure penalties.
Evo went first and scored all 4 of theirs. BSG scored their first but were then denied by two saves by Seb Mckie in home goal.
A good competitive game with contrasting styles on show. BSG probed throughout and a patched up Evo looked dangerous and compact.
