AFC R&D U12 v TS Acadewmy U12 - 16/02/19 U12 Shield
Meeting for the third time this season the teams new each other reasonably well. TS Academy started quickly and then without the ball dropped back in to a good shape and were able to catch Diamonds out with some forward passes playued very well in behind. They just couldn't find that finishing touch.
Diamonds were able to take the league through top goal scorer Tyler Allan. Winning the ball back inside their own half Tom Standbridge and Joe Potter combined quickly to play Tyler in to finish with power and precsion in to the far bottom corner. More excellent work from the front three allowed the ball to come across the area to Joe Potter who rifled the ball in to the roof of the net for a class finish to make it 2-0. Reece Rhoades came in to the attack and with some excellent combination play he cut inside, in to the penalty area and was tripped. The penalty calmly placed by captain Josh Berwick. 3-0 at half time to Diamonds.
TS Academy came out and dominated the second half early on. Pushing Diamonds back and retaining possession they created a few half chances but nothing major until 3 goals in 10 minutes got them level, 2 of the finishes were absolutely fantastic from the TS Academy forwards. Diamonds however managed to get control of the game again and with 5 minutes to go Tyler Allan again combined with his fellow forwards to finish with power. Finally with 2 minutes left a carbon copy from Tyler Allan and it was game over.
An incredible comeback from TS Academy and they had the chances to get something from the game, if not win it. They are a great bunch of lads and thew coaches are fantastic guys. Good luck to them all for the rest of the season.
