Wind upsets the flow, as gales move in.
Herald Juniors took all 3 points against the Robins, in their JPL Elite North clash at a sunny, but very windy Jubilee Stadium in the vale of Evesham.
With the wind in their direction, Herald Juniors took full advantage and scored 3 goals in the first seven minutes. Evesham not getting started, and Herald passing well and taking advantage of the conditions. The visitors continued to press, hitting the post, however no further goals and the quarter ended 0-3. To counteract the wind, the teams switched ends for the second quarter and this was a more evenly matched affair. Evesham were taking advantage of the wind, however Herald were solid in defence, playing out well and created the better chances with the Evesham keeper making a good save. No further goals, so 0-3 at half time.
With the wind still swirling, both sides huffed and puffed in the third quarter, fairly even but chances were at a premium for both sides and little to report. FInal quarter and Evesham went for it with 3 strikers. The home team started the brightest and nearly scored after 2 mins, however the Herald keeper made a great save from Ben Gudger. Evesham finally scored, Jake Bennett scoring from a penalty with a Herald player having been penalised for handball. For the first time in the game, Evesham had their tails up, and were applying pressure.. A couple more chances, and a lung busting run for Charlie C to fetch the ball from about 2 pitches away following a wayward shot, however it was the visitors who wrapped it up, in the last minute with a good breakaway goal to make it 1-4.
Clearly a game affected by the wind, however well contested, and a fair result in the end. Good luck to Herald in their upcoming games.
