TUFC U15s v RTC Buckinghamshire U15s

Torquay United v RTC Buckinghamshire

Torquay suffered defeat at their new home at South Devon College, when they went down 3-0 to a well drilled side in RCS Buckinghamshire, who were clinical in taking their chances when the opportunities arrived.

The game was effectively won in the space of two first quarter minutes when first on 13 minutes Bucks’ striker (21) found some space behind the home defence and managed to round the keeper and slot the ball home and then just a minute later they doubled their lead when a cross from the right fell to their forward (18) who just got in ahead of his marker to finish at the back post.

Torquay had started quite brightly but in truth were never able to work the visitors goalkeeper hard enough and throughout the game most of their efforts ended up being fired straight at him or wide of the target.

As the first quarter drew to a close Ben Langley did force a save from the Bucks’ keeper at his near post, but chances were at a premium for the home side throughout the match.

Bucks’ nearly added to their tally in the second quarter but saw an effort dragged just wide. The home side were then frustratingly denied by the offside flag as home striker Tom Burt was put clear by Will Nicol.

The visitors added a third on 46 minutes when a free kick was well delivered into the Torquay box, it was initially headed clear by James De Selincourt but fell invitingly to the Bucks’ skipper (6) inside the box and his effort just crept inside the post to make it 3-0.

Torquay tried hard to get themselves back into the game but a couple of efforts from Thomson and Burt were too close to the keeper to cause him a problem.

The home side did come close on a couple of occasions as the game drew to a close, first when good work by Tom Burt down the right wing saw his cross find the head of Ben Langley but his effort drifted wide. Their best chance fell to De Selincourt with just seven minutes left on the clock when Sullivan McKenzie found him with a cross from the left but his header was just wide of the post.

Well done to the visitors who fully deserved their win on the day after their long trek down to South Devon.
