Match Report

The Albion Foundation vs Birmingham City FC

The Albion Foundation welcomed Birmingham City FC to RSA Academy this week in what was the Foundation's first game in the JPL. The U12's expected a tough challenge from Blues and that is exactly what they got, having a good blend between technical and physical attributes within their Squad.

The first quarter started extremely brightly for both sides. Early on the ball was going end-to-end, with neither side forming any real/dangerous chances. West Brom however grew into the game and began to find space and time on the ball. The deadlock was broken for WBA towards the end of the quarter when a brilliant through ball was tucked home by Harry McNevin despite the Birmimgham defenders best efforts to clear the ball. 1-0 West Brom going in at the break.

The second quarter was much of the same, with WBA looking for avenues to form attacks. Birmingham however were dangerous on the break, with theur forwards running onto a number of through balls, dealt with extremely well by WBA Goalkeeper, Cobie Whyte. The second WBA Goal came through Noah Payne, a brilliant finish from a reverse ball which found its way under the keeper. 2-0 to WBA at Half-Time.

The third quarter is when Birmingham really came alive, they pegged the WBA Defence back time after time until eventually a break through for both teams. Birmimgham managed to notch a goal, as did West Brom who were lethal on the counter. The pick of the Goals being a beauty of a free-kick from Myles Durham which looped up and over the Goalkeeper. 4-1 at the 3rd Quarter Break.

The final quarter was complacent from WBA, and Blues looked to capitalise on this. Birmimgham dominated the closing stages of the game and pegged back a WBA Team who failed to make effective clearences all to often. The West Brom resolve, however, did not break and the score remained the same.

WBA 4-1 Birmimgham City

We look forward to seeing our friends at Birmimgham City later on in the season.
