Match Report

Saints Southwest 4 Yate Town 3

Firstly, thank you to the parents, referee and Yate town for providing such a great game of football today from both teams. The first quarter started, and both teams looked up for the fixture. Yate tried to play some good football, but Saints structure out of possession was very good, making it harder for Yate to break lines. After a few chances missed, Saints got a breakthrough goal by Bobby Hilton half way through the first quarter. Yate replied within 5 minutes by the effective no. 9 who capitalised on a mistake and smashed it in the net.

The first 10 minutes of the second quarter was all Yate town. The had some excellent passages of play leading to a goal from their CM who had an excellent strike on the edge of the box; putting Yate 2-1 up. Saints reacted very well to conceding a goal, which after 5 minutes a looping strike from Stanley Jenkins was parried by the goalkeeper in which a pro-active Jonathan Thorne, followed it up and placed it in the bottom corner. 2 minutes go by and it's great play by both teams, in which Yate do excellent to earn themself a penalty. With the no. 9 looking to get his 2nd of the game, he comfortable stepped up and shot to the bottom left; in which Freddy Harvey - Lamar made an excellent save to keep the visitors from scoring. With 1 minute, to go Eddie Carrillo made a sensational run from centre back up to Yate's box, leading to Bobby Hilton getting his 2nd of the day. Saints leading after the 2nd quarter 3-2.

During the 3rd quarter, both teams seemed to have good possession, however no goals occured throughout this quarter.

[ ] As the 4th quarter started, both teams looked up for the finish and wanted to give everything they got to try and get the victory. After Yate having a great spell in possession, the no. 9 managed to grab his second of the game with only 5 minutes to go. Leaving the game very open for both teams at 3-3. After end to end football, Saints managed to get a last minute breakthrough goal by hat-trick hero Bobby Hilton who with his nifty feet slithered his way through a congested box, poking the ball in the bottom corner.

[ ] With the final score ending 4-3 to Saints, thank you Yate for coming down and providing an entertaining and great game of football
