BIC 4 - 3 FC Wilts
BIC welcomed Fc wilts to Bristol for the first game of the season in the cup qualification group. Conditions were good and the pitch was looking nice for the early season.
BIC started strongly dictating play in the Fc Wilts defensive third and were rewarded with a goal midway through Q1 when Jaheim Zion was played through 1v1 and finished well. The lead was extended a few minutes later through DJ Coles with a fine individual goal from long range with his left foot nesting in the top corner.
This caused FC wilts to up their game and start to force pressure on the BIC defence. This paid off with a goal near the end of the period when a well flighted free kick on the right was headed home.
BIC came out for Q2 well again and worked some good opportunities. A good channel ball was cut back for Bradley Selwood to smash home for 3-1. FC Wilts were always dangerous, particularly in attach with strong runners and physical presence. They continued to create chances as did BIC and the game could go either way.
Q3 was a stalemate with neither team able to force a goal. BIC did score early in Q4 when Ephraim Yeboah finished at the second attempt after striking the post for 4-1. As comfortable as the score line seemed you always felt Fc Wilts could score again and that they did in the final 10 mins with two through balls that caught the BIC defence by surprise to get back to 4-3. Both teams could have scored again with BIC shooting wide and Fc Wilts striking the crossbar but the home defence held firm to secure the first 3 points of the season.
Credit to FC Wilts for being competitive opponents who played their part in an entertaining game. We hope to play another game in future.
