Today we hosted Kettering U14’s in the JPL cup qualifiers

Q1

The Nottingham boys started positive with some good early possession but was undone in the 10th minute with some sloppy defending.

Nottingham reacted positively with some intricate passing via the midfield creating an opening for Joseph Gascoine to break down the left flank to cross a ball over to Thom Betts to side foot on the volley at the back post

NFC 1-1 KTFC

Q2

Nottingham carried on with some excellent possession and once again switching a great cross-field ball over to Joseph Gascoine who’s 1st touch was something to be admired by both sets of parents and coaches that took the ball into his path that only left him the keeper to beat which he done by a calm finish via the keepers legs.

NFC 2-1 KTFC

Again the lads were very positive in their press and nicked the ball 25 yards out to which Oakley Kennerdy let 1 go straight into the top bins. The Kettering keeper was very unfortunate in his efforts by getting a slight hand to the shot.

3-1

3 mins later Nottingham conceded a corner to which Kettering got a free header

3-2

Q3

After the half time team talk the Nottingham boys came out of the dressing room with a point to prove by scoring 1 of the best team goals I’ve witnessed. The Nottingham boys passed the ball consistently for 5 minutes to work the angles and space to eventually find Zac Carnelly on the right flank to break into the box to pull the ball back to a waiting Oakley Kennerdy to slot into the bottom corner.

4-2

The pressing and constant passage of play continued for the home side to get a corner to which Oakley Kennerdy delivered to find Dior Anderson at the near post who kept above his man to finish with a fine header

5-2

Nottinghams domination continued in the 3rd quarter with a quick free kick between Oakley Kennerdy and Patrick Kelly to which Patrick broke free and whipped the ball into the far corner

6-2

4 minutes later Kettering got another corner to which they scored through a free header

6-3

Q4

Nottingham seemed to shut up shop with some good game management keeping the score the same to the final whistle

FT
NFC 6-3 KTFC

I would just like to thank all parents, coaches, kids and referee for a superb morning of football to how it should be conducted
