Game day - Final Result 2-8
1st Quarter - 0-3
A bad start to the game with Paulton being a goal down within the first 30 seconds, a long ball over the top which caught the defence out, With Paulton trying to adapt to a different way of defending in the first 20 minutes it took time to understand each role, but they continued to try and play from the back and go through the thirds, unfortunatley for Paulton the second ball and individual battles in the first quartre cost them and another 2 goals were scored before the break.
2nd Quarter 0-1
Much better from Paulton, 1st and second balls were being won and attacking the wide areas started to pay off, with some great chances being created, a move around of players with Josh Frost switching with Alex gave Paulton the extra pace upfront to expose the back line. However, saitnts goal came from the one moment that no tackles were going in and the saints striker went past 3 players and scored. paulton chances on goal 4
3rd qtr 1-1
Paulton scored early thanks to Alex, attacking play down the right hand side by Alistair who had just moved into Right midfield cut inside, squared it to alex who left footed it into the net, Paulton attacked wide and broke really quickly exposing the saints Left hand side as much as they could, The centre midfield of Sam, Josh and Josh kept the saints middle of the park at bay for long periods, however the long ball seemed to cause the most problems for paulton and the Paulton Keeper was busy for period sof time, with some great saves. Saints scored with the last kick of the quarter. sahme for the Paulton lads
4th Quarter - 1-3
This quarter Paulton went 1--0 up in the first 5 minutes with great movement down the left hand side with some nice 1,2 touch football, Josh Frost cutting in from the Left and putting over the keeper, with Players being moved around to cover injured players for Paulton it was a bit of a smash and grab for the final 5 minutes, when Saints scored their goals, tiredness had crept in on the Paulton lads and the final pass didnt quite come off.
The Paulton lads continue to improve week on week, and take on board all the new elements that are chucked at them, as development season for the boys they continue to drive each other on and keep pushing forward, this game was a huge improvement on the last time the clubs met with Saints winning 13-2.
Onwards to the next game
thanks to all the parents for the support and also support for running the line.
