Firstly thank you for SSW Devon for making the trip to Langport today to once again provide an entertaining game of football.
First quarter showed Somerset having a lot of possession with Devon trying to execute a low/mid block. It made attacking play difficult for Somerset due to the compactness and amount of bodies around the ball. However, 13 minutes hit and Stanley Jenkins fired a low free kick at the keeper; whom parried the ball into the path of poacher Wess Jenkins to put Saints up 1-0.
Devon completely changed their tactics out of possession being more aggressive with the press. Which worked in stages, but Somerset still comfortable playing around the oncoming players. Devon has a couple of chances through Kaiden mead who made it difficult for the Somerset CB's, in which one of these Kaiden struck the ball with finesse and going into the top corner. Even though Freddy did get a good hand onto the ball.
With the game getting to the later stages there was an obvious increase in pressure the game started to drop in quality. Miss placed passes everywhere, and lack of protection on the ball.
The 4th quarter started sharp for Somerset and resulted in an early goal for Somerset from Bobby Hilton who slotted the ball home to make it 2-1 to Somerset. In which to follow this goal Somerset managed the game well and saw out for a 2-1 victory.
Well done to Devon for providing an entertaining game of football and good luck for the rest of the season.
