Torquay 5-3 RTC South Somerset
The opening quarter of the match saw Torquay have plenty of the ball and create a number of opportunities at the South Somerset goal, but the hosts were unable to find the net, through a mixture of missing the target and the Somerset goalkeeper stopping those shots on target.
The second quarter continued in a similar fashion, as Torquay enjoyed plenty of possession and territory in the Somerset half. The visitors grew into this quarter well though, countering and creating a good opportunity, which was saved by Jack Grant in the Torquay goal. The second break from Somerset yielded the opening goal, when a rather tame effort was not stopped by the keeper, and the ball rolled into the net. Less than a minute later, Somerset broke again and made it 0-2 courtesy of an own goal. Torquay continued to enjoy possession, although they became a bit more frantic as half time approached. In the final minute of the half, Somerset made it 0-3 with a super bit of play - a superb through ball released their striker down the left hand side, and he squared for a simple finish.
Torquay did not let their heads drop and continued to play the ball well in the Somerset half. Within five minutes of the second half, George Collins pulled one back to make the score 1-3. The hosts had the bit between their teeth now, and managed to reduce the deficit further before the end of third quarter, when Sam Beaulah finished well from close range.
With it being a one-goal game, Torquay felt they could complete the comeback, and indeed they levelled the score less than a minute into the final quarter, with Jay Rich flicking the ball into the corner from a set piece. The young Gulls then finally got the lead when George Collins grabbed his second from inside the box. Ben Aldous completed the scoring again from close range, sealing an extremely impressive turnaround for Torquay.
Both sides went about the game in an extremely positive manner, with Somerset's forward causing the United backline several problems throughout the game.
