Torquay United U14 vs Yeovil Town U14
Torquay United 0-2 Yeovil Town
In the first quarter, Torquay dominated the ball but failed to create many clear cut chances. Yeovil broke through the Torquay United back line and their player was eventually brought down by the Torquay right back Charlie Stevens. The penalty was dispatched neatly by the Yeovil striker, 0-1 Yeovil. Late in the quarter the Yeovil midfield tested Torquay keeper Max Weeks with a long distance drive that was well watched and well tipped over by Weeks for a Yeovil corner.
Torquay United started the second quarter quickly with an early ball out to Henry Munyago on the left who crossed the ball into the Yeovil penalty area only for them to clear easily. Yeovil set up well, allowing Torquay to have the ball in their own half, then hitting them on the counter attack when possible.
Yeovil came out in the third quarter and pressed the tired Torquay back line into giving the ball away cheaply on multiple occasions. Max Weeks was again called into action with a smart save down to his left to keep out a Yeovil counter attack. Torquay worked the ball wide on many occasions but failed to create much to threaten the Yeovil lead. Torquay had a good chance when the bal was hit long into the Torquay substitute Kye Graham who held it well to turn and get a shot off toward the Yeoil goal only for it to fly just wide of the target.
In the final quarter tiredness had clearly got the better of Torquay's fast paced passing game, an early slip from Torquay center back Tom Evans caused him to gift possession to the Yeovil midfield, a shot was followed by another Max Weeks save low to his right. Torquay striker Regan Lashenko held the ball up well against the Yeovil defence to bring more players into play but apart from a few wild shots, Torquay created little. A late punt forward from the yeovil defence caught Torquay flat footed and boucned through to the Yeovil winger who slotted the ball passed the scrambling Max Weeks for Yeovils second of the match.
A very well contested match from start to finish, good luck to both teams for the rest of the season.
