Paulton vs Saints Southwest Somerset
Paulton Rovers welcomed Saints Southwest Somerset to Norton Hill school for today’s match.
The game started very evenly with both teams having good spells of possession however it was Saints that opened the scoring with a well worked goal. Another even spell of the game followed with Paulton winning a free kick which was very well taken by Oliver Bratby making it 1-1.
The second quarter again started as a very even contest. Saints Southwest again taking the lead after some good build up play. Paulton hit back very quickly, again Oliver Bratby rising highest at a corner making it 2-2 overall. Saints then started with a bang and scored several good goals after some good play once again. The second quarter finishing 5-2 to the Saints.
Saints started the third quarter very brightly and scored almost instantly making the tie 6-2. Paulton responded well and stuck to their principles of playing out from the back and did so with great effect. Saints stepped it up again but some resilient defending from Rob Smith and Evan Young kept the score to 6-2 as well as some fine saves from Billy Jeffery. In the end saints scored with a great finish off of the post to make it 7-2.
The final quarter again was very even. Both teams playing some great attack minded football and both sets of defenders dealing with it well. Once again though it was Saints that got their goal making it 1-0 in the quarter and 8-2 overall.
A great game to watch for everyone involved. Thanks to Saints Southwest for making the trip down and we look forward to the reverse fixture later on in the season.
