Paulton vs Wiltshire Football Academy
Paulton Rovers welcomed Wiltshire FC to Somervale school today.
The game started evenly with both teams keeping hold of the ball well and playing good styles of football. The deadlock was broken by the visiting side when a good save from Paulton keeper Billy Jeffery fell at the feet of the striker who tapped home. Paulton the looked to respond quickly with Archie Keaveney forcing a good save from the Wiltshire keeper with the first quarter ending 1-0.
The second quarter was much of the same. Both teams playing good football. Wiltshire nearly went 2-0 up after about 30 minutes but a great recovery run and tackle from Paulton captain Kenzie Luton kept it at 1-0. Both sides continued to create half chances but it was again Wiltshire who scored the first goal with a good finish and then scored a second one five minutes later. At half time it was 3-0.
Paulton still continued to work hard in the third quarter. Olly Bratby had a free kick well saved before Wiltshire took control of the quarter scoring 4 more goals including a spectacular scissor kick from one of their players.
In the final quarter Paulton showed great character and determination to keep going and continue to play good football. Paulton went a goal up thanks to Archie Keaveney’s high pressing, they continued to dominate for a spell but then Wiltshire scored a goal out of nothing with their striker, with his back to goal, doing a smart turn and shot, firing the ball into the far left corner.
Overall a great performance by both teams, Paulton vastly improved from last week and Wiltshire playing some nice football. The game finished 10-1 to the visitors.
Thanks to Wiltshire for coming down and we look forward to the next fixture.
