Halesowen town blues vs Stoke RTC
A great effort from both teams in horrendous conditions. Strong winds and heavy rain spoilt the game as a spectacle. Halesowen Took the lead in the 2nd Quater throgh Elliott Ball. Stoke then equalised with assitance from the strong wind. Stoke then took the lead after an own goal.
This seemed to wake halesowen up and in the 3rd quater Halesowen scored 2 quick goals from Kyri to take the lead 3-2.Stoke were a constant threat on the breakaway and one quick counter attack saw a quick long through ball played in behind Halesowen centre backs for the striker to expertley finish into the top corner 3-3. Stoke were now increasingly getting the ball behind the back 4 but found Noah in good form as he made 3 great saves to keep the scores level. Quater finished 3-3
The fianl quater saw Halesowen miss some simple chances to extend the lead. Halesowen were pushing for the winner but seemed very eratic and nervous infront of goal. Halesowen decided to go for the 3 points and changed the system to go 3-4-3 with Alex Winwood moving from Centre back into the front 3. With 5 minutes to go a loveley flowing move saw Ethan Edwards paly a sublime pass into Alex who with his first touch out of his feet took the ball past the last defender and calmly side footing past the keeper into the far corner 4-3. Stoke werent finished and but for two excellent saves from Noah were unlucky not to get the equaliser.
Result Halesowen 4 Stoke RTC 3
Halesowen just about deserved the result but Stoke competed and fought right up to the final whistle. All of the Stoke boys were a real credit to themselves and there team.
From our earlier encounter this season Stoke side were much improved and had developmend both individually and as a group, so hats off to the Stoke RTC Coaching methodology.
We wish all the players and coaches of Stoke RTC all the best for the rest of the season.
