Match Report

The future of women's football right here!

To days match had a lot riding on it for our squad. Firstly, both teams were a good result away from the National Finals and it was clearly on the tips of everyone's mouths. For though, MFA were the only team we've played in the last 2 years (so far) to not only win deservedly, but out play us in most area in our last encounter.

Everyone enjoys wins, they are great for confidence, but losses help to build character and this match was about seeing if the team had learned from the challenges they faced and did they have the belief and character to show it.

Ignoring the scoreline for a second as it doesn't reflect the game, both teams put in such a great effort today. The work rates and football being played were outstanding from both teams and what more it was played in the right way!

We got off to a flyer and really got about our press, counter pressing and turning their players around effectively. We made some tactical changes to match the midfield dominance MFA showed in our last game to give them more of challenge defensively.

MFA were not easy to breakdown with a strong, compact defence and a great midlfield to support them we really had to work our opportunities. Their coaches organise and prepare their squad so well and clear note down areas we're danagerous and where they can exploit.

Today we played close to our best with some excellent football and goals. Our desire to play and compete were clear today as it was unselfish play and great team work that got us the result we needed.

Thank you for the warm support from both sets parents and their committment; without them this just doesn't work and thats why we clap both sets of supporters to show thanks for time.

It was also our pleasure to supply, pizza, dougnuts and drinks to both sets of players. We're committed to growing womens football; whilst competition is great, its about the common goals and the bonds we share with our football community in helping develop future women professionals.

MFA may not have got the result they wanted today but the players left with smiles on their faces and that was great to see. We sincerely wish MFA the very best for the remainder of the season and look forward to seeing them next year!
