Paulton vs Bristol Inner City
On a beautiful sunny day, Paulton welcome BIC to Writhlington Sports Centre for an 11:15am KO in round 3 of the Shield Competition.
The game started with both teams playing some fantastic passing football that was great to watch from the sideline. Paulton were given a freekick on the edge of the box early in the game which could have seen them take the lead, only for Leo's effort to go on the wrong side of the crossbar.
Minutes later, BIC took the lead as a long range effort was too powerful for the home keeper to deal with and the ball went in under the crossbar.
The second goal of the game was also scored by BIC and was soon followed by a third goal after a number of defensive errors seen the ball end up in net without a visiting player even touching the ball. This made the score 3-0 and left the Paulton team looking deflated going into half-time.
Despite the score line, Paulton had not given up and came back out fighting after the break. Both teams again showing a high standard of football across the pitch.
Chances were created at both ends, however it was BIC who again found the breakthrough. After putting some distance between the teams, BIC now started to dominate possession and were tormenting Paulton in the Heat by keeping possession effectively and tiring out the home side.
An unbelievable strike from 40 yards then made the score 5-0 and another goal was soon added to make it 6. Paulton again refusing to give up and continued to work hard in the heat. Their efforts were rewarded when Sonny managed to intercept the ball high up the field and slotted home to give the home side a constellation goal with 5 minutes left to play.
A very high standard of football played by two very good sides, a few individual errors proving costly for Paulton and BIC coming out on top on the day playing some great passing football.
We wish Bristol Inner City all the best for the next round
