YTCST U13’s vs Juventus Devon U13’s

Saturday 30th October

YTCST U13's vs Juventus Devon U13's

Yeovil Town welcomed Juventus Devon to Somerton Sports Ground. This is the first fixture of the JPL One Group, this is the first meeting between the two sides so both teams were looking forward to it!

1st Period

Juventus started brightly and were the much stronger team for the first 15-20 minutes. With control of the ball for majority of the first period they really tested Yeovil's back line and were very much on the front foot. Juventus were organised and this looked to be a great game. Juventus started pinching the ball in midfield and driving forward with bodies, and having some really good opportunities to score. Juventus almost took the lead when a corner was wipped in for a touch by the Juventus player only for Will Jones to clear it off the goaline. Really good start from Juventus. Yeovil needed to take time to find their feet and gradually started to edge there way into the game. Yeovil had a great opportunity to take the lead when one of the Juventus player's handled the ball in the box for the referee to award a penalty to Yeovil. Yeovil took the penalty and was saved by the Juventus keeper.

0-0

2nd Period

Both teams started the 2nd period well, Juventus carried on pressing and putting Yeovil's back line on alert. Gradually through the 2nd period, Yeovil started to impose themselves onto Juventus especially getting beyond the Juventus back line as they were a big threat in wide areas. Juventus had a great opportunity to take the lead when they got in behind the Yeovil's backline for Alfie Burr to make a big save to keep the game level.
Yeovil competed for the ball in good areas of the pitch and took advantage of the play when Moss Jackson and Sonny Girling combined well together for Moss to slip Sonny in to comfortably slot the ball in the back of the net. 1-0 Yeovil.
This didn't stop there as Yeovil grew in confidence as the game went on, with Yeovil winning the ball in the middle of pitch and threading a ball in behind for Moss Jackson to be through on the right hand side with time and space he tucked the ball away. 2-0 Yeovil.

3rd Period

Yeovil made numerous changes at half time mainly in the midfield to keep the momentum going. With this Yeovil controlled the majority of the 3rd Period. Controlling possession and was bright going forwards with the ball, with one quick counter attack down the right hand side and in behind the Juventus defence, with Yeovil midfielders joining in Henry Lant got in behind and crossed the ball in for Ashton Brown to fire in the back of the net. 3-0 Yeovil. Juventus continued to play showing intent going forward and had a very good spell, with Yeovil making one or two mistakes at the back allowed Juventus to take advantage of them, Juventus got a goal back with good play from the edge of the box with a lofted cross that managed to beat every player for it to creep bottom corner of the net. 3-1 Yeovil. Both teams battled for possession and Yeovil had the majority of the chances going into the last period.

4th Period

Yeovil started better from the start with Yeovil's midfield showing some really good play and being a threat going forward. Star player of the last period was Ollie Crittenden, showing great vision and providing forward passes for his teammates and was involved in many opportunities and attacks Yeovil had. He was heavily involved in Yeovil's 4th goal, for Ollie and Moss Jackson combining very well, Moss showing wonderful skill to beat a player to the byline for a cut back cross for Daniel Loader to finish first time. Well worked goal! 4-1 Yeovil. Yeovil didn't stop there continuing to cause problems for Juventus, Moss Jackson constantly being a threat and problem for Juventus when he got his second of the game calmly showing great dribbling moves in the box from him to smash the ball in the back of the net. 5-1 Yeovil. Credit to Juventus, started very brightly and were well organised, game could have been different if Juventus took there opportunities.

We wish Juventus Devon the best for the rest of the season!

Final score:

Yeovil Town 5-1 Juventus Devon
