West Bromwich Albion & JPL Goalkeeper Initiative

There is often a criticism aimed at Professional clubs that they do not do enough to support Grass Roots Junior clubs. This has been a huge frustration to Junior Club coaches and managers however over the past few seasons and since the introduction of the EPPP (www.premierleague.co./youth/eppp) the relationship between professional academies and junior clubs has become better.

In an effort to make West Bromwich Albion’s Academy relationship even better with clubs locally we aim to offer the biggest and best Saturday morning Youth Development League, NERF JPL, the opportunity to take part in a brand new and unique project.

We want to offer every Goal Keeper who is in school year 3, 4, 5 and 6 (Under 8, 9, 10 and 11’s) the chance to experience an Academy GK Training Session. You must live within an hour and a half of West Bromwich Albion FC.

We have more enquiries to the Academy about GK Specialised Coaching than any other position so we thought we would deliver a session for every young GK in an effort to show coaches, parents and GK’s themselves the things that will improve them. The things that our Academy GK’s work on day in day out whilst they training.

The session will concentrate on –
• Handling
• Ground work
• Shot stopping
• Distribution
• Footwork
The GK session will be held at The West Bromwich Albion FC Academy.

There will be professional GK Coaches on hand for a Q&A and there will be some free GK session plans on hand for coaches or parents.

The session will be free of charge.

If you would like to register your Goalkeeper for this session please ask the parents to call The Academy Recruitment Officer, as below, for more details.

We do hope that you, the managers and coaches, take up this offer in an effort to bring Professional and Junior Football closer together.

Best Wishes
